This little oak bowl from an offcuts of the last big bowl I did almost ended up in the firewood pile, shaping the outside was fine, a little hard in spots but overall it behaved, the second I turned it round I had problems, it's so hard it actually burnt the tip of my gouge and I got nothing but dust the whole time I was hollowing here's a couple of pics and believe it or not they are 2 hours of cut/sharpen/cut/sharpen, I was lucky to get a few mm before having to resharpen

The shine is from wet CA, a section was very punky and spalted and I filled cracks with gold glitter again so rather than risk staining I soaked it into the whole thing, here's the finished thing, only 6inches across
