to replace the shop vac i use for dust extraction....For my table saw, thickness and planner when i get it.

Not really good enough capacity for a planer thicknesser, the problem you will have looking second hand is that whatever anyone has that works with one, they will keep, these lower powered units just don't move enough air to allow a PT to clear, you need to overwhelm the extraction that the manufacturer will tell you that's required, look for something with 2000m3/hr extraction which will be at least 1.5hp or even better a 2.0hp.

That Makita thicknesser does not come with a chip collector hood as standard and will need a good extractor as I said above.

I have a smaller saw than the AW10 TS, but even that needs a good extractor as I said above to extract effectively, personally I would not look at anything below 1500m3/hr, I use a 2000m3/hr extractor and am satisfied that I have an adequate system to extract from any of my machines individually, if I contemplated trying to extract from more than one machine at a time I would consider upgrading my extractor.

Do you need a table saw of that standard? if not consider the Axminster TS250-2 and use the monies saved to buy a planer/thicknesser, you will need a planer eventually.

Cheers Mike
My Makita thicknesser did come with a collector hood, at the mo it is taped down to go into my noisy Henry type sweeper - OK but not brilliant

The thought of faffing and swapping from one to the other has put me off A P/T

Thicknesser and sled will do for now

Current T/S is Dewalt 745; excellent but noisy, I have neighbours :)

Fox have a reputation that does not come out to well, plus I would not trust any company that does not give the specification of the machines main use.

From the above Fox page

Featuring a full 2Hp motor and a high capacity 153 Litre waste collection bag for heavy usage without regular downtime, it will prove indispensable in the busy workshop environment. A 125mm outlet from the fan enables a quick and efficient transfer of shavings, chips and dust into the reusable storage bag. For enhanced versatility, Fox Tools have provided two 100mm inlet ports enabling two machines to be used simultaneously in conjunction with the F50-842. A massive airflow rate of 2529m3/hour(42.15m3/min) more than copes with this demand

That Fox sounds like it should be good, the airflow rate is from the 125mm outlet though I bet not from each of the 100mm outlets, you have to ask yourself if you trust the guarantee and availability of parts if needed from Italy, compared to buying from an established English supplier? you pay your money and take your choice.
