Is it possible to polish water based lacquer like you can with pre cat ?

If so, can anyone recommend a good store for polishing sundries ?

Thanks

Yes, you can, in my experience, although I would experiment on a sample first. Allow it to harden thoroughly first. However, if you want it as a substitute for pre-cat, I think you may be disappointed. I find it OK on pale low lustre woods like maple but unsatisfactory on anything lustrous (it's inherent milkiness tends to obscure lustre) and rather cold looking on darker woods. A water borne finish with the clarity and warmth of the best solvent based finishes is the holy grail and I can't wait for it to be found. Regretably it might be a long wait.
