Hell everybody.
I hope you don't mind me asking such an impertinent question on my first post but I need your help...
I've been watching this forum for a while and you all seem so knowledgeable so I trust your judgement...
I'm new to woodworking - I have a set of handtools (planes, chisels etc.)
but no power tools. I've seen a 'lot' on e-bay and was wondering what would be a fair price to pay for it.
There's too much to list here, but the item number is 250234092274 (carpenters dream lot).
I would appreciate some guidance in this area because it sounds like a good way for me to get a good set together.
Thanks.
I look forward to your advice and hope you don't mind me posting (this, and no doubt many more) stupid questions!

Hmm, I'm not wowed, although obviously that's a fair few tools for £100.

What I see is:

1. No charger or batteries
2. All look like they've been used hard
3. The bosch is green, not blue (so a DIY tool but it still looks used hard, and cheap to start with)
4. The Elu is quality, but looks its age
5. Palm sanders are a bit of so-what niche tool
6. Unless you are a site worker, mains jigsaw and circ saw are much better tools than cordless (although cordless costs more)

At £100 (assuming you are close enough to pick it up) it's a very good price despite the above, but I'm not going to be bidding against you at least!

Jake , if you are new to power tools I would stay away from ebay till you a bit more knowledgeable. The best advise has usually been to buy the best you can afford when you really need to. I managed in the 70's and 80's with B&D circular saw and jigsaw attachments to a drill. Don't be in too much of a hurry to purchase power tools until you have worked out what you want them for.

have to ask, but Jigsaw attachments for a drill?
Can you elaborate please, because this is gonna do my head in all night.

I remember the circular saw attachment for the Black and Decker - and later,a hedge-cutter attachment.
Don't remember a jigsaw, though (my dad had the other two - I'm too young.. )

Yes OK OK no need to go on about it.

B&D produced a circular saw, a jigsaw, and a sander as attachments to their drills in the 70's (or before). They also sold a saw table so that the circular saw attachment would fit. I have all four plus two of their drills and the vertical drill stand. Up until last xmas when I bought a combo and a large bandsaw these and a small router were the only power tools I possessed. During this time I've made wardrobes, a kitchen and various other pieces of furniture (see my photo site) proving that you don't need masses of expensive power tools to make anything.

PS all the above were "bought" with green shield stamps - and that surely shows my age :D

<Sob> I remember those as well <Sigh>

Ah, but do any of you remember the even earlier Wolf Cub drill and its attachments?
Actually, they were darned clever and well made. I used the little "table saw" attachment until the mid 1980s.

its all about application, as my pop used to say. Must admit I'm impressed.
On the wolf note I have an old wolf plane that knocks spots off my makita.
easy to use and it motors!!
I remember my father had an old tenon saw with a brass ridge, I have looked everywhere for that saw. It was beautiful. Probably got lost in a 'move'.
