I saw the thread on shutters a few weeks ago and Norm's plans don't seem to be available in UK. I did find an
alternative plan
He uses staples to attach the slats to control rods, but as I want the shutters to be outside the window, I think the staples would rust and stain the wood. Does anyone have any thoughts using off the shelf items (I don't fancy bending 50 bits of brass). Also, is wesetrn red cedar a suitable wood for this?

Thanks

peter

Has you client chosen to have these outside? Surely the Norm design is for the inside?

My view of modern "plantation shutters is that the would not stand a breeze, and that they have migrated indoors.

Thanks for the replies....I appreciate that most plantation shutters are fitted inside, hence my question about suitability of the wood. The client is me, and the windows are in a house in France where the windows open inwards. The shutters generally available are plastic or solid wood. It would be nice to have some where the ventilation is controllable
