It is time I bought decent reliable small posidriv and phillips screwdrivers. The ones I bought years ago--cheap--- have seen better days--the tips worn / chewed up. Time to buy new sets for small screws. (Example: Perhaps about 1/2" long for screws that are applied to fit guitar parts). Can you recommend sets that are robust--that pro guys would use in their everyday work? Can I buy a mixed set of phillips and posidrive?

I like Wera 1/4" hex bit handles and they do sets with small philips, pozi and torx bits, but for fixed blade screwdrivers look at Wiha
Quality every bit as good but the ergonomics of Wiha's handles are about the best on the market and better than Wera.
Better how ? Smooth and slimmer near the front of the handle makes them easier to spin quickly when inserting machine screws, good rubberised main grips with a diameter that increases with the driver size so you can apply the right amount of torque.
The facets on wera handles are good for high torque but not so good for dexterity.

If you ever stumble across them, two top quality Japanese brands are Vessel and Anex.

Plus 1 for Wera. I’ve had and used mine for years and they are still in very good condition. As Sideways says the handle ergonomics are very comfortable and transmit all the torque from your hand to the blade.

Another for Wera, I use their bit holders and bits almost exclusively in my drivers but do think we need an honourable mention at least for Halford's professional range. I have a couple of different sets of them, including stubbys, and their no questions replacement lifetime guarantee is impressive.

For years I have used 1/4in hex bits in a suitable handle/holder then if the tip gets chewed up you don't have to throw away the whole screwdriver. And if the screws you are using ar really small then you can use just the bit on its own to start them.

I keep a Wera ratcheting Kompact 27RA in my tool bag, really like it. I have had it years and used it loads, despite sometimes hitting it with a hammer to clean the paint out of slotted screw heads it still works perfectly.

I have a set of fixed blade Wiha in the workshop, as @Sideways says it's nice how the handle size increases with the driver size (a bit like old chisels), it just seems right putting a small screw in with a small driver.

FYI: There are also modulus (also called plusminus) Pozi & Phillips screwdrivers.
Probably quite specialised but electricians tend to like them.
