First post on this forum so here goes. I haven't been turning long, but someone bought me a second hand SIP lathe, that needed some TLC to get it working, so once that was sorted, I got the bug.
I'm self taught, getting most knowledge from watching videos, on you tube and reading a book I got from the library.
It's been a progressive learning curve, using a variety of different woods. This is my latest creation, a pestle and mortar made from 40mm oak board, the stuff they make kitchen work tops from. I cut two 110mm squares, glued them together in opposite grain direction, making a nice block to start turning with.

Welcome to the forum Alan, just shout if you need any guidance on future projects or methods of approach, there's every possibility that someone around here has done it before or has a good idea of best way to tackle it.
