Pergola

I am about to oil my pergola deck with oil treatment. My question is: what treatment to use for the posts and roof? paint? wood treatment?--other?

I have done a google search, plenty on decking, can't find nothing on the posts.

Any suggestions what to use and makes that are long lasting.? (As we all know some makes are better than others).

I’d give it a coat if preserver I’d it were me. You can get clear if you don’t want to mess with the colour.
