Now those are Pens! :)

The detail of the lids in pic 2 is very nice.

Excellent pens there Malcolm. Makes me want to have go. Is it best to start off with wood or would (scuse pun) you start with acrylic? The pen kits I see advertised on ebay seem a good buy. I assume they are all a set size or can you get the metal parts in various sizes?
Cheers
Steve

I know Pen Lathes seem to be a way into turning. Would you say that pen turning is a good beginner topic?

Pen turning is certainly a relatively easy way to start turning, although I started turning about 6 years ago and originally made bowls (which I still do). I use a Record CL4 Variable speed lathe which is something of an overkill for pens  but is very good for bowl and platters etc.

Really stunning pens and you must have a good camera too, also your web site is pretty good, thanks for showing me how it should be done  :D

hi malcom. you have been a busy bee. nice looking pens too, how do you like the filigree's to write with? i only made 2 and found them to be very top heavy. you should get stevebuck to show you how to do the ca finish now. well done mate.

Hi Greggy

Yes the filligree pens are a little top heavy to use but you soon get used to this . I am using one at the moment at work and you soon get used to them.

I will be meeting Steve this evening at our local club.

I have been making pens for about 18 months.
