Hi all....

A bit of advice please.

A woman i work with is married to a doctor who has recently passed his exams and has become a consultant (i think that makes him a 'Mister').

Anyway, to congratulate him on his success she's asked me to makes him a 'nice' pen to replace one that she bought him a while ago but he managed to loose (she said it cost around the £100 mark retail).

It has to be a re-fillable fountain pen, and looking around the normal suppliers i cant seem to find many.... if any re-fillable ones.

Primarily it has to write extremely smoothly.... she's been quite particular about that..! She doesn't want something that looks nice but is actually a very poor quality pen to write with.

So can any of you guys help out here and recommend where i can get just such a pen kit please, or recommend a supplier and or style too..?

Many thanks in anticipation as always....

Nick

I'll hunt up the kit (if someone doesn't come back first) that I've made the toothles budgy with (and given to the neurosurgeon that guddled about in my head). But a consultant is'nt a "mister". A surgeon is a "Mister"

Most if not all of the pen kits available come with a refilable pump as well as being able to be used with a cartridge.

The ones I would recomend are the elite collection from Turners Retreat HERE

Is this pen you are going to make or one that is to be purchased complete.

If the former then there are plenty of kits out there that take a cartridge and some can be converted to the reservoir type.

Also if you don't want to set up with all the kit to turn one maybe someone close to you can make it.

As per John, I made one of the Elite range from the Turners Retreat, using Irish bog oak. The neurosurgeon I gave it to it well pleased with it.
