The political correctness has surely gone to its limits by now? But probably not??

It's about time that the so called Aussies realised that the Indigenous Australian is the true Aussie, called Aboriginal, and all of the others are immigrants!

Why is it so PC to call them Indigenous Australians? Can anyone tell me please?

Well, they are the indigenous people of Australia, so calling them indigenous Australians isn't particularly bizarre.

My wife pointed out a nice Chrome extension the other day - whenever someone posts "politically correct" or similar it changes the text to "treating people with a bit of respect". It's treating people with a bit of respect gone mad, huh? ;)

I've got a better extension. It changes 'politically correct' to 'TPA induced' - TPA - third party apologist.

I heard the WORST 'PC' item ever today.
Apparently you can no longer have a Brainstorming Session as this may cause offence to those with mental illness, instead you have to have a 'Thought Shower'.
What a load of bol***ks

Probably because the term people used to use - 'aborigines' or 'aboriginals' - has been used as a derisive/dismissive term for some time, and picked up some negative connotations in some people's eyes. In the same way that it's not generally accepted to call black people 'negroes', despite the fact that '*****' technically just means 'black' in a couple of romantic languages.

Like all movements, the political correctness movement has its crazies who go too far, and its moderates who are perfectly reasonable. If you ask me, the crazies who go too far are mostly as annoying as they are because underlying all their craziness is a perfectly reasonable intention... they just go too far. It'd be easier to ignore them if they were entirely wrong!

It amuses me when these things go in cycles - you couldn't say someone was black for a long time, you had to say they were coloured. Then that was wrong, you had to say black. It's the nonsense that gets me - I was working in a college where I spoke to a woman whose child was in the same class as my lad. Her job was to look after disabled children, and I happened to mention something about a particular child we had a problem with. Oh, no, she said he's not disabled - he's differently abled. I asked her what ability he had that I didn't - none, was the reply. So he's not differently abled at all then? I said. She's not spoken to me since. The worst part is we pay for this tosh - said college has just advertised (at a good salary) for a "respect coordinator".

You mean a post like 'Welfare and Diversity Officer' as filled by that revolting Bahar Mustafa who has now been charged with sending a threatening communication ie # killallwhitemen.

Then there is UCL, who hounded out Tim Hunt, only to be found out that they were not giving equal pay to male and female academic staff at the UCL Qatar campus.
