I quite fancy painting

That's handy Bob. My wooden windows could all do with a coat or two of weathershield. Like all the best hobbies you can fit it in around other fun events like 'family'and 'working'.

One other idea I just had that might suit you to try is archery. I enjoyed it for a while before kids etc got in the way. You could pick some gear up second hand like a cheap bow and target.
You have the space already and if you like it and get better and need a challenge in the future you could always a "Free Small Dog Daycare" events at your Mrs' hound pound. Just get the waiver notes written up by a good solicitor.

I'd love a 240! Had a 740 which was my first and best decent car and the best stupidly sold it because wife couldn't drive it whilst pregnant so we brought a xantia possible the worse car i have owned.

I got it for my lad to learn mechanics and to drive. Apparently they're simple to work on (I find it mind-bendingly difficult) and there's loads of room for mods to performance and looks, once he's got enough no claims to make it affordable. There's something iconic/ 1980s about the 240 shape, I think.

Had a 240GLT, 2.3 police spec engine, comfy, unstressed driving, lethal understeer, fab car. Built like a tank, got hit on rear off-side corner by a truck, only damage was a crease in the bumper cover. Bought my spares off a guy called Raine, Swedish rally driver who used to campaign a 240, reckoned best way to get around the understeer is to drive it hard and use the throttle to steer! Apparently the engine has loads of tuning potential

Have you tried Bob Ross tutorials? Strangely hypnotic viewing, it will chill you out even if you never lift a brush! If you don’t know, he was a very famous tv presenter / art teacher. An ex master sergeant, he said that he’d spent his long military career shouting at people and vowed to never raise his voice once he’d left. He spent the rest of his life teaching art in a totally chilled manner. Very cool dude, less addictive than Valium and nearly as relaxing!

I had one of the last of the earlier model Scimitars - late 1975 IIRC, brand new . . . I only had it 6 weeks until a mini-cab driver drove out of a side turning and hit me broadside . . no injuries to me but the fibreglass body was split the whole length of one side and the chassis was bent so written off (although it was sold and rebuilt about a year later) As we had just found out that my wife was pregnant I bought a new Volvo 240 . . orange but they called it yellow . . and the running lights that everyone thought you had left the sidelights on.

Scimitar engine was just a Ford Granada 2 litre, nothing special but lots of power with the light body.

Mine was a ford 3.0 V6 which I didn't respect half enough. Lost it on a roundabout in Southampton and smashed up both front and back.

However David's fiberglass and it was back on the road within a week.

Must have sold it to buy the Volvo 740. Very different cars but both great!

Just mention folks, not a good idea to try archery with the kids in the way!

That’s good news for me then, I have a lotus esprit

We have my cousin's 2 Lotus, he passed suddenly a few years back before he could renovate them. His sister (my other cousin) passed them to my children each for their 21st, I remember riding in the Esprit when I was about 14, the Europa was his wife's. If you have or hear of any spares please let me know.

Thankyou, it's an S2 '78 and the Europa' 72.I remember the family talk of it being a JPS but my son paid for the history & discovered my cousin just had it sprayed that way, originally white from the factory.

Ps the chopper was better than the grifter....

Hey now don't dis the Grifter, I had one of the early ones, metallic red, and it lasted well over 10 years and that was me doing jumps with it and allsorts alongside my mate who had a BMX (polished chromoly frame with those 32 spoked wheels - well flash!) - the twist gears did get stuck twice, but otherwise it was a very sturdy bike and frame.

£600 now on ebay
