My son has given me a load of thick "posts"...all 1200x140x70, smooth sanded and bone dry. Apparently they came from a house renovation he's helping with. Didn't like to ask how come they've ended up in my garage. Anyway...he's asked if can make him an old rustic looking bed using the stuff, problem is the wood looks like it could have been treated.
I've got a lot of very old oak floorboards which will polish up nicely for the head & footboards, and I was thinking of bolting on a bit of iron work here and there for that rustic look, but I was wondering....is it possible to paint treated timber for indoor use?
As much as it would amuse me, I wouldn't want the lad to invite someone back and wake up to the smell of Ronseal..
