It has just been said on the BBC that there is some kind of con going on about the ability, for a few million $$$$$, to buy an Oly gold medal?

I didn't get the detail, but keep an ear out for the news and if you have a few meg to spend then you could be showing us your gold for drinking red or sumfin like individual syncronised swimming?

For me the Olympics died when the reason for them died. Amatures against amatures. That WAS their original reason. Now it's money and National prestige at whatever it costs.

Plus, the country that hosts them had better have a HUGE ballance of readies to pay out so that a few conmen can rake it in because the host countrys people are going to pay through the nose for it!

Shhh, I am a dead cert for the women’s rhythmic gymnastics gold medal, don't spoil it for me

AIBA President Dr Ching-Kuo Wu, who told Newsnight that the claims were "totally untrue and ludicrous".......

However, he said that AIBA had a zero tolerance policy on corruption and that he would conduct an immediate investigation into the allegations.

Eh? :?
What's the point of him conducting an investigation when he has stated the above? Not exactly impartial or open minded is he.

The whole Olympic saga just stinks of corruption, as much as the FIFA World cup does.

Sorry Studders to be a nit-picker, but it is the amateur Boxing where the ALLEGED bung has taken place. They run the boxing at the Olympics so the Olympic committee have nothing to do with it. In fact the alleged bung seems to have been to keep a show on the road in the USA.

I never thought boxing whether Amateur or Professional was particularly kosher and this just reinforces that prejudice.
