Hi all

Quick Q

I know that iron fixings used in oak will cause the dark staining, does stainless steel have the same effect?

One thing I do know is that SS and aluminium don't like each other.

On aluminium bridge parapets we used to have to use nylon washers with the SS holding down bolts to keep them apart - otherwise electrolytic reaction.

Yes Harbo

In the chemical factory where I work as 90% of the pipework and vessels are stainless, you are not allowed to use alluminium ladders for the same reason.

Dissimilar metals can have problems, worse is brass and aluminium. My father will throw all your coins (and anything else that's brass or brassy coloured) in the sea before he'll let you aboard his boat.
