A lump of rust in the shape of a vice, no paint, but a lot of rust.

The pictures do not show how bad the rust was.

Boiling in Citric acid, this will remove the rust and crud.

Rattle can filler primer.

Gold leaf to finish.

Doesn't it say "No. 0," rather than No. 1?

I've always loved that little spoiler at the back of the fixed jaw - apparently specific to British vises/vices - to catch filing swarf so it doesn't get on the slide. Brilliant idea.
