I've always fancied a proper go on a pole lathe, but it's rather a long way from me.

Type 'pole lathe' into google and you will have a number of sites that have plans for making them. Most pole lathes are hand made. I have been thinking of making one myself once I've settled down. Very simple construction. I think Graham, (Old Soke) has one or had one.
