I got a xmas pressy, actually 2. and decided to join in the fun (scrolling is fun isnt it?) on this forum.

Sealey SM1302 406mm Variable Speed Scroll Saw with 230V Throat
and
a bench drill
Would have got better if I/we could have afforded it.
Set up in kitchen until rain stops and then migrating to workshop at top end of the garden.

Looking forward to chatting with you all once I have made something.

I got the same saw for an early present in November, Moshe! I'm really enjoying using it, and have found the learning curve to be quite instinctive. It's a really helpful and friendly bunch in here, with loads more experience than me' and you'll get loads of advice. Good luck, and I hope you enjoy what is turning out to be a very addictive pastime!

Welcome along Moshe.
A quick Google of your numbers above reveals something that looks very much like the standard far east clone model, very similar (if not the same) as the Jet Jss-16 that I started with. All things considered it should be a very nice, fairly capable saw to try out scrolling and see if you like it. I had hours of fun with mine before I had saved enough/decided to take the plunge and buy something beefier.
There are some very experienced guys and gals about the forum who can help with hints, advice and encouragement so pull up a chair, crack a beer/grab a cuppa and make yourself at home.

if we all waited til we could afford it, we might never get around to it
You will have so much fun with your new toys (and sometimes you will want to tear your hair out  )
Welcome and I look forward to seeing your first pics :D

Hello Moshe :) I've also recently bought the Sealey, cracking little saw although I have nothing to compare it with. I've found a BIG improvement was making an insert plate, 3mm ply for the top with a 6mm piece glued underneath, just use the plastic one supplied as a template for the notches. You'll see the items I've made so far on the Sealey in the links below.

Welcome, Moshe.

Hope you enjoy your new found hobby, yes it is fun. But warning, it is addictive.

Take care.

Thanks for the welcome everyone.I am sure I will spend plenty of time on (in?) this forum.
My plan is to start of with some name plaques and personalised key holders and then progress on to something more adventurous as time goes by.

Mike

Welcome to the scroll-saw section Moshe, it's a warm friendly place to be but make sure you join in the chatter, and ask any questions you wish even if you think they might be basic. :)
