Newbie on the block

Hi all, I'm a "newbie" on this site and so far it all looks really interesting, informative and downright good stuff. I'm what may be described as a carpenter wanabe, I've no real woodworking skills as such, only what I picked up from my dads side watching him as a kid (and I learned some interesting and colourful names for wayward tools). I'm looking forward to visiting this site on a regular basis and hope to learn from it, and hopefully add my own two pennies worth in the future.
I'm planning a project way above my station so I may well be asking advice from you "seasoned" woodworkers if that's ok.
