Hello!
I have just built my new workshop (exciting times!) and my neighbour has offered me some stuff that he inherited in his dad's shed.

There is :
Clarke Drill press cdp 5db
Kinzo bench grinder 700.976/1997
Black & Decker bench grinder D 385
Performance Power Wood lathe NLH370WL
Unimat mini lathe (vintage)

So my question is, how much do I offer him? I know that most of the tools are not great quality (particularly the wood lathe) but I think they are good enough for what I need right now, and he is broke...it's a way of me clearing space in his shed, and giving him some cash for his kid's Christmas. Interestingly, the thing I have least obvious use for, is probably worth the most?

are they all in fair condition / working order?

I'd start by looking up the new price, then halve it and see if that seems a fair price. The expensive item that you have little use for (the vintage lathe?) I'd question whether it is worth taking, unless he won't split the lot?

I think if you can comfortably afford it then you will be helping him out for Christmas and getting some bits for your workshop.
You could always sell on the bits you don’t want.

You may consider looking for equivalent previous sold prices for that stuff on B-flay.......... that would be fair, I think and tend to reflect what he could flog them for.
...... then anything that is surplus to your needs could go for what they can get at your leisure.

I have powered them all up, and they all seem basically OK.
Stupidly, although I am struggling to see any immediate use for the vintage mini lathe, I did kinda fall in love with it...before I found out that they have been selling for £300+ on the Bay.
