Hi all!

I'm planning on making a TV table as none I can find are the right size.

It needs to hold the 4 HIFI seperates and also the Freeview/HDD recorder.

We currently have this sideboard in Solid Oak from ILVA (veeery nice :D )
(Can't seem to add pictures, but look on IVLA website for the COMBO collection. This pic is the sideboard)

And this is what I want to make but without the draws/cupboard sections:

Sadly the company ILVA has gone under in the UK and I'm not about to import it all the way from Sweden - money is tight at the moment as the central heating has just packed up in time for Winter to arrive...

Can anyone help me source the wood? Ideally it would already be dried etc so I wouldn't have to worry about getting green wood and it twisting.
I thought I knew quite a lot about woodworking till I started reading these forums!
I live in Hampshire but am happy to travel a bit to pick it up etc.

Perhaps I could find someone to cut the wood to spec maybe? Not sure how it works.

Any help and advice would be superb.

Mark

Welcome Mark,

apparently there is a filter or spam-trap or somesuch which prevents you posting photos in your first few postings on the site. I don't think it is more than a handful of posts before you become fully enabled.

When you get to that number, please try re-attaching the photos or links as there are plenty here who will offer good advice. There are also plenty of people who will be able to tell you about Hampshire woodyards and timber merchants (although you could just try the Yellow Pages). Any indoor furniture must be made of dry timber, and the merchant will be able to assure you of the moisture content.

Hello Mark, welcome to the forum. I'm sure you'll spend many happy hours here. Good luck with the TV table, lookin forward to seeing WIP pics. I got into woodworking as I couldn't find a bookcase anywhere to fit an awkward space so I built one myself :D

the central heating has just packed up in time for Winter to arrive...

I can sympathise. A fitting on my boiler started p1551ng water the other day. A plumber quoted me £80, so instead I drained the system, took the old fitting over to Haldane Fisher's and got a new one for £4.35. Popped it on, refilled system and Bob's yer uncle. I know absolutely nothing about plumbing, but that saved me a fair whack, and the heating now works :D

Greenphotos - welcome to the forum and as others have said your pix will appear after a few posts. TV table/cabinet sounds interesting though - Rob

Thanks looking forward to getting it done currently I have made a flex-y-table that works really well and is super strong, but doens't look that good.

(yay! Pics!)

WOW Stef that looks amazing!

Yes, I'd love one like that, don't have the large clamps though so might have to borrow some.

I have to fit the Amp, Radio and CD tuner, sizes are 435 x 115 x 335mm and the HDD Recorder is 430 x 74 x 328.
Would also be handy to store all the DVDs etc so maybe 2 shelves?

Mark
