wow that brings back some memories. In a funny way I miss my old Maxi2. I've looked over the new one and it's definately not as chunky as the original. But still a very nice lathe.

How is is bolted down? Right into the joists of the shed?

What happened to the bunker idea?

Cheers guys 8) I've not used it yet other than starting it up and playing with the variable speed control

Headstock end is over a bearer, tailstock end didn't come over one. There is a sheet of 18mm flooring chipboard screwed on the shed floor to take out any bend,20mm ply over that srewed both into the chipboard and then with 3" screws through both into the shads bearers then 2 strips of 20mm ply under each leg to put it up to the correct height srewed down into the layers below. The lathe itself is coach bolted down through to the floor.

Should be a 'bunker' update next week, its still happening,I've just been a lazy winter avoiding sod

Hi JT,
Nice!
Welcome to the Record lathe owners' club. Some love 'em, some hate 'em!
I'm sure you are at the start of a long and meaningful relationship!
Look forward to seeing how you get on with your new toy.

Malc :D

The Maxi 1 an 2 are great lathes you will get a lot of pleasure from owning this one i am sure.
Look out for the Maxi 1 reveiw in the woodturning mag soon.Next month i think.

Regards George

Johnny, nice toy you got there.
What is the maximum diameter you can handle on this lathe?
Record Power lathes are very nice machines, as I noticed, did some turnings on a Record Power lathe in Goes (Zeeland)

So that's what the tidy up was for  Looks very nice.
We had a quick look at the Maxi1 at Yandles and it looked a nice lathe.
All the parts seemed to operate nicely on it.
So am now looking forward to seeing what you produce on this more substantial lathe JT.
Enjoy it :D

Thanks chaps :D

Richard, I may do a WIP on the first thing I make with it as a little review type thing.

Ad, 20mm over the bed 720mm outboard.

About time J.T- i hope this new one isnt going to get coverd in paint

Who me,paint   This one should be safe, the poor old Axi ones only crime was to be white, so when I wanted to try the colour in the airbrush....  The fact this one cost nearly 10X as much should make me a bit more respectful

I'm still waiting for my chuck inserts :( Ordered them Tuesday from Yandles but they're not here yet :( They managed to get the reciept here though  Not that I'm complaining about them,we had a deal on the lathe and they ring and let you know whats going on with orders, just wish they'd get a move on

WOW!
A super clean workshop then a new lathe, what an improvement I may have to call again and see just what it can do.

Nick Arnull.

Hi Johnny,
Thats a fine looking piece of kit!!
I wondered like many others about the clean up campaign and now we know.
I've been rather busy to get on recently but I must say I like some of your output recently and this new machine is going to expand your range without doubt.
I recon this is a match made in heaven and you will be very happy together.
Regards,
Ian
