Cutting with the rotation of the router bit with very little actual grip on the tool, nasty cut caused in less than a second.
 
I was thinking of a full sized router - I've not seen anyone ever attempt to use one with hand, so the hands will never be near the cutter. I have no experience or knowledge of little trimmers etc.
 
Axminster on youtube have just started a weekly routing wednesday video tutorial. Think they're going over all the basics as part of their skill centre at home series. May be worth a look.
 
They go over the set up, safety and types of router 1/2 and 1/4

Got my triton 1/2" in a table and it works a treat.
