Hi all, recently joined this wonderful forum and didn’t know it existed. I stumbled across it purely by chance as I was researching a Multico Model M mortiser that I have recently acquired. If anybody has any information on one that would be great.

Thanks for the quick replies, I didn’t realise I could post photos straight away. Please excuse the state of my shed, I’m hoping to move soon and have enough room to set up a decent workshop as I have a kity 612 bandsaw. I hardly have any room in there

Hi, thank you for that. I just wish I could have found that before I payed for a manual only thing is that there is no description to each part number and my machine looks like someone has used a bolt that is too long to lock the part that receives the auger and in that bit there looks to be a pin that only allows short bushings to be used. I’ve found mortise chisels that the augers are slightly longer and also the bushing to receive the auger, if that pin were removed would fit without modification.

I have a Multico M1 - the same as yours.
I will check to see whether I have a manual - not sure.
It looks like the workpiece clamp is missing ?
It seems to work well with sharp chisels - but my only gripe is that it is a fixed speed ( 2800 rpm ) which is resulting in too much heat generation. Mine is a three phase machine, so I may fit a VFD
Just a word of caution - this machine is very top heavy, even with the counter weight lowered, so if you ever have to lower it have an extra body to support the weight. It hurts if you drop it on your foot !

Thank you for your reply, I have the workpiece clamp but it doesn’t hold too well. I cleaned out the pin holes that it locates in but the clamp just spins, the threads do look well worn mind. I can also say that it’s top heavy and very heavy when it had to be taken up steps to get to my house it was split into two parts to do that also.
