Hi Richard,

Thanks again for alerting those of us who don't lurk in the turning forum...

If this stuff really is repellent to finger marks then, I might be placing an order at some point.

How does the shine compare to Wood Wax 22, for example? I've always liked that one. Although, finger marks are a problem with it, in my experience.

Hi Olly,

It's a pretty new product so I've not fully road tested it myself (although I'm sure Chestnut have!!)

The key feature is the Microcrystalline formula which has a higher melting point than normal waxes so the heat from your finger tips from handling doesn't effect the set wax polish finish. That said, it should still buff up to a nice sheen like traditional waxes. A comment has been made on the round side that to get the best out of it it should be power buffed so the friction gets the temperature up to really work it into the wood but I'm sure normal vigerous buffing should be fine!!

Cheers

Some of us just like to take the easy route

OPJ, the shine is at a higher gloss level than Woodwax22 in my experience, more akin to Canuaba.

And even better than the latter at resisting handling marks from what I can see so far.

Thanks for your input Chas. Always welcome.

I applied some MC Wax to an Oak bowl I made last week and buffed it by hand. Hardly raised a sweat   ! Came up to a lovely sheen, as Chas says, possibly more even than normal Woodwax.

Cheers

I'll echo what I've posted on the other thread. MC wax is the closest thing I've found to keeping the woods' original colour. We're using it in our bathroom on solid oak flooring and it's doing well.

This is some ash. The left hand band is MC wax, the remaining two so-called 'clear' or 'colourless' products from Sadolin. These latter two do have UV pigments in as they are intended for outside use so not quite horse for courses but still a million miles from 'clear'

Thanks for your post Roger. Ash is a tricky one to finish (along with most pale woods   ) so this recommendation is great!!

Cheers
