I just bought a used Lamello Top 10 Biscuit Joiner but it was missing the (Try Square and the Try Square Clamp, and the Handle).. Lamello doesn't supply all of the spare parts anymore, would anyone have any of these parts they would part with or I could buy them from you?? or do you have any ideas where I can get them. I've even tried a Lamello spare parts supplier in Germany online.. but no joy. :( Please help if you can..!

Calling AES..... :)

I had the same problem as you and although Lamello apparently don't stock those parts anymore a member of this site, who lives near their factory in Switzerland, popped by and they found one for him which was posted to me. Exactly the same parts for exactly the same machine (apart from mine didn't need a handle). Can't say if he can do the same again or even if they have any more of those parts knocking around but the coincidence is remarkable!

Thanks for that I wonder if they might still have this part sitting in their shelves
I hope your friend sees this post and gets in touch. Was this a long time ago?

Oh okay memzey...I hope he sees this post and sends a message. Although Lamello and other suppliers do still stock these same parts but for the model Top 20, you wouldn't happen to know if these same parts are compatible with the Top 10 would you?

Apparently not T-M, according to the feedback I got from Lamello themselves and Axminster (their UK distributor).

As an aside, I seem to remember seeing this product advertised not that many years ago and at the price point it occupied, I am surprised and feel a bit disappointed for you that spares are an issue this quickly.

So, sympathy more than help. Is this short backup period typical or is it a known shortfall for Lamello?

The Top 10 was discontinued in the 1990's. Parts are still available for later models. Can't really blame Lamello in this case as they have to stop making parts available at some point and at almost 20 years since it went out of production when do you draw the line for what is essentially a small hand held power tool?

Wow, 90's, how time flies. I'd of guessed I saw this 4 / 5 yrs ago!

Thanks for the update (less so for making me feel even older!)

I've just got off the phone with Lamello AG Switzerland and the still supply almost all the other spare parts for the Top 10 however strangely enough not the part
which I need the try square and its clamp jaw :( thats sods law i guess!!

Haha yes probably so.. you were incredibly lucky memzey!

I have found someone who has this part and is willing to sell me it...so I feel lucky too :)

Apparently the Top 10 was introduced in 1988 and phased out in 1996.. it was instantaneously the best biscuit joiner on the market up until it was phased out..

its just a good piece of woodworking history!

Well done on getting the part T-M! I must say I like my Top 10 a lot. It may lack some of the bells and whistles of newer machines but the key thing any biscuit jointer should do is mill clean and accurate slots dead parallel to the surface you are referencing from and in this regard I can't fault it in any way.

Could be that you saw the "Top 20" model advertised? That was available recently?
Ah, could well be. Premature aging -panic over!

Thanks,

Sorry tools-man and memzey, I've only just seen this thread.

Yes, the Lamello factory is literally 10 mins drive from my home, but I see you've already been in touch with them by phone.

The part/s I was able to get for memzey a while back were pure luck really - a fairly elderly/senior gent overhead my conversation with the (very helpful) Receptionist when I visited them on memzey's behalf and he managed to find exactly what memzey needed - just "lying about loose on a book shelf" in his office.

Apparently that machine is not made any more and I think the chances of such a lucky find a 2nd time around are almost nil.

I didn't take a lot of notice of the actual parts I sent to memzey (I don't own any Lamello machines myself), but I don't recall it/them being all that terribly complicated. Wouldn't it be possible to borrow memzey's to use as a pattern to make your own version?

Sorry but I doubt I can help any further this time.
