It's made from Aromosia (from a clear out at a builders merchant) and Ash, mainly because I couldn't source thicker Afrimosia for the legs, and didn't fancy joining pieces together.
The big advantage is you can stand up to look down and flip through your CD collection, which is what I started off to design. I could never find what I wanted when I had them in a straight stack with just the end of the CD exposed, and ended up sprawled on the floor looking at the bottom sections.
( They are also easier to put back when you have had one too many!!!!!!)
It's the first time using extending drawer runners too, but you are stuck with planted drawer fronts, in reality.
I tried the osmo finish but to be honest I prefered Danish oil then Bri wax with wire wool.
Just to pick some handles now, but that is a job in itself.
I was impressed with the chess table for the competition and am considering investing in a run through belt sanding machine like the jet, as the advantages not only for finishing difficult woods and keeping larger surfaces flat, but producing very thin stock parallel would be a bonus.
BUT for that I need to coax the wife to open her purse!!!!
Thanks for the comments.
