Apart from the absence of a side claw, it's fairly reminiscent of the Coach Trimmer's Hammer - used for driving tacks in confined spaces according to Salaman's other tome.

By other tome I meant Woodworking Tools - thought you had that one? I always look in there first, even if it's not a woodworking tool, simply 'cos he seems to have included anything he saw in any wood-related workshop he ever entered. :lol: How about B&H? Any luck in there?

Thats for leather work on saddles or equestrian tack,

i think anyway,same as cobblers hammers & such.
