Myford ML8 serial numbers versus year of manufacture

As a matter of personal interest, my (new to me) old ML8 has a serial number : N74419.
I would like to know the approximate year of manufacture, can anybody help on this one?

Hi Len,
When Myford were still going, the nice lady there gave me precise dates for my lathe so I imagine they had detailed records. RDG seem to have taken over Myfords name and may have those records,they are very helpful for bits and pieces and may be able to help dating your lathe. A rough idea could be gained from the colour, early ones were yellow, later ones silver etc, try Lathes.co.uk for detailed Myford ML8 info.

Hi Just found this old topic!
Did you find an accurate source of serial numbers/dates? Myfords told me sorry don't have any data.
Ive recently bought a cream ML8 the serial number appears to be prefix W but could be M or N and 12927 any idea of the date if you are still around. cheers
