My second plane

Well, here is the second plane (first one here ), this time made from beech and I actually made the iron myself from O1 toolsteel hardened to Rockwell 60-62.
The iron seems OK but I'm not sure it's not hardened too much and so it might prove to be a little brittle. This one is with its new owner now and so I await feedback over the next few weeks/months

I am trying to experiment with ergonomics and 'feel' with these things and am really enjoying the shaping and trying to get a good finish. This one is considerably more rounded than the first at both ends and feels nicer in the hand but I think the grip on the first might be a little firmer

This one is about 9 inches long again

Thats a great looking plane and if it performs as well as it looks it will surely be a winner. I would like to have a go at making a plane myself but I do not know how. I know you have now posted your third plane but could you do some WIP's of a future one please.

One question, how do you find the time, I can't find enough hours in the day.

I have so many WW jobs waiting to be done that even spending 8 hours a day in the WS doesn't seem to dent the list.

Ahhh, WIP shots

Well, you see, I'm very busy at work at the mo with little free time, and the recipient of this plane was keen to get their grubby paws on it, so I kinda forgot to use the camera
