Hi
I'm very much a newbie, this is my first post, although I have been an avid reader of all the intersting info on this site for a year or more. I've just taken delivery of my latest parcel of goodies from Axminster; included in the latest "haul" was a low angle jack from LN, No. 62. (I used to smirk to myself when I first came across this site and the references to "slippery slope", well I have arrived!). First off, I was well impressed with the fact that the plane was on special at Axminster so it had to be good. The tool itself is a lovely piece of engineering (as always with LN, I already have a No. 7 and an edge plane, No. 97 from them) and I'll put it through its paces later this evening. However I have one small niggle- I think the brass screw on the knob (for adjustment of the mouth opening) is very small in diameter and I wonder if this is prone to shearing off (if abused or overtightened by the unacustomed)? I would have prefered to have seen a larger screw or perhaps a steel screw in this location, any thoughts on this?
