My least favourite job.....

Painting, wallpapering.........and dare I say sharpening.....at least whilst on site. I don't mind in the workshop when time isn't an issue, but when you have to stop the job to do it! Ugh.

I also have a whole bunch of playlists on spotify - one for hand planing, one for glue ups, even one for sharpening!!

Dear god! We will have bugbear and Jacob arguing about the best music to play whilst sharpening now #-o

I guess that it would depend if you're going freehand or using a guide.

My music tastes would probably give the 'owd man' a conniption fit.

You'd be surprised at the range of music he listens to, just wish he'd turn it down a bit :-$ :lol:

You need a 4 sider, bloody brilliant. Best purchase I ever made, what used to take a day now takes an hour.
If set up correctly the results are better than separates or an over and under.

Yep, dead impressed with Jonny D's 4 sider, I've a cubic metre of chestnut to run through his soon definitely wouldn't want to plane that lot a side at a time. (hammer)

Painting and finishing. I'm currently making a media unit from MDF, which will require several coats of paint. All parts are cut and sanded ready to go tomorrow and i'm not looking forward to it at all. I shall be listening to Planet Rock while i'm working. (hammer)

Mine is now fitting crown mouldings (I enjoy making them though, planing out the coves is particularly satisfying).

My experience with blumsons has always been very good, as they know if I'm not happy they will be back to collect. But I have seen other companies attempts at par and left a lot to be desired, they had covered there back by saying the allow for 3mm tolerances, thought this was a joke when I was buying but apparently not. Sure you get a few pieces bowed and twisted but this is the price you pay for saving yourself the tedious work planing it. Price it in to the job and you have some good free wood for home jobs!

reckon I got everyone trumped today on the least favourite job. I got into the dry dock and the toilet macerator was blocked. Should have spent the morning gluing up a new door I've been making but instead spent it picking out bits of used tampon from the macerator impeller. There's sign on the door and wall begging people not to put anything down the toilet, oh for a workshop with no customers.
