Yes my Hegner lathe was collected today by Roger from Hegner, and will be replaced by one of
These :D
After weeks of deciding, and lots of help and advice from fellow members,i thank you for your time, i have gone from having the VB36 to the Vicmarc 300 to the 175.
Main reason for choosing this lathe in the end was that it will fit where my old lathe went, using the bench i made for the Hegner, and without having to sell any of my other machines, mainly my tablesaw,or having to rearrange the workshop.
I would like to thank George (Cornucopia) in particular who was a great help when i was having the VB :( who took a lot of his time up.Thanks George.
All i've gotta do now is wait for the lathe to arrive which i have been told will be at the end of April. So i have not turned now since the beginning of Jan :(
When it does get here i will post some piccys,as usual :D
Just can't wait.

With a lathe like that we will expect to see some rather grand things coming out of that garage Paul. Copngratulations.

Pete

thats very nice paul - I considered one of these while i was looking at upgrading my lathe - but sadly its out of my budget ( it looks like i'll be going for an axminster avsl1000 but i'm still not fully decided)

That came as a bit of a surprise paul! A very good choice from what I've seen of them.

Look forward to seeing the moving in photos.

Paul. I'm glad you went that way, they are a great machine I had
a couple of hours on one of Glenn Lucas's Vicmarc and and its
brilliant .It gave me thoughts and I had just bought a Nova.
The best of luck with your new Lathe and many happy hours of
trouble free turning. REgards Eugene (Boysie)

Just one question Paul...

How are the ladies going to spend the VB36 savings

Enjoy the lathe, it's a good'un

Hi Paul
Good choice on the VicMarc, I too am waiting til end of April yours must be on same ship as mine  . It was supposed to be end March early April but I gather they had some production problem over in Oz but Phil just phoned me to confirm delivery date. Shame about your Hegner though all the same.
Steve

Thanks for the comments everyone :D
Only time will tell once again if the lathe lives upto my expectations [-o<
So fingers crossed

I'm sure they won't have any problems graham

V.Good choice Paul. I'm beginning to wish I had a swivel head or dedicated bowl lathe. hmmm is it too early to have 2 lathes... ? :)

Mornin' Paul.

Just out of curiosity what medication have they got you on to combat the withdrawal till the new one turns up?

:eek:ccasion5: I find this helps a lot!

Hmmm just as i was thinking of a new lathe, the daughter drops it on us she is going to get married, so the wife sort of frowns at my idea.
well done Paul, hope you really enjoy it, hmm wonder if the daughter wants a set of bowls....

Glad it worked out Paul. I am still trying to work out how to buy my Vicmarc. Have fun with it.

Take care

Mark

Thanks folks :D

Hi Paul
No ordered mine not long after Harrogate show and was told end Feb/early March then end March early April now end of April as far as I know they`ve had a few hiccups at the factory. Vcimarc owners I`ve spoken too said you can wait a while for stuff from over there. I think Phil waits until he has a few orders and then places a bulk order understandable!. They do seem to go as fast as he can import them. I ordered the cabinet as well as I haven`t the time to make a bench.
Still using my little Draper for now! I think Chas or someone put me down as a VL175 owner on the forum a wee bit early :)
Regards
Steve

Steve when i enquired about the Vicamarc Phil originally told me that the shipment was on it's way,and as you say was expected to be here for mid March, usually take six weeks. There was 5-300s and 5-175s,plus other bits and pieces.
I was talking to a 175 owner at the Paskins show who said he waited six months for his  :(
