I went over to the New Forest to have a dabble at the Sammy Miller motor-bike auto jumble last Sunday. There it sat lonely on a stall, a Record#4, after an hours resistance, I weakened and bought it for a fiver. It has a solid frog with Record stamped adjuster leaver, so it was made between 1951 - 55, that make it more or less the same age as me, but its in better condition!
I already have a perfectly good (well almost) Stanley #4, but I couldn't leave it there could I?
I would have posted a picture, but I don't think I have that facility yet. BTW I have not raided the mainlands stock of planes, the vendor had brought it over from the IOW, and all I did was take it back again. Didn't do too bad for bike bits either.
