Well here goes this is my first attempt to up load a photo using Chrispys Advice!
It is off the photo roll taken by my iPad

This is my first attempt at turning a Burr Oak Bowl, Should perhaps have gone thinner on the walls but got too scarred.

That is beautiful. I would normally recommend thinner walls too but in this instance the thick edge makes a great feature.

Phew! now that wasn't so bad was it? and worth waiting for, (nice work) I admire how you turners can see inside a lump of wood and dig out the work of art there.

Like the way you have managed to retain the character of the natural edge, so many times I despair at the lack of appreciation of the harvester that uses a chain saw to cut straight across the the most significant feature of a nice piece of burr.

Thicker walls I find are the safer option on Burrs, although generally hard and apparently tough they can have some very weak lines running through them which can let go unexpectedly if you break through that last remaining link.

Very nice Vic. :D
I agree about keeping the wall thickness with a burr, and the fruit looks nicely turned as well :D
Well done for posting your first of many images of your work i hope :D

Vic , I would be 100% with you on the thickness of turning Burrs ,why have all that lovely wood lying on the floor as waste .You managed to get a lovely finish as well . =D> =D>
