I doubt very much that I am the only forum member with music in his workshop, so what do you listen to?
60s, C and W and light classics for me.

Roy.

I have a radio and used to listen to the local station but got fed up with the reception coming and going all the time so switched to Radio 2 last week. They do a lot of talking but then it's really only background noise most of the time.

They do a re-run of pick of the pops from years gone by on a Sunday afternoon so I can listen to stuff my grandson has never heard of

I've just got a CD player but am a bit concerned about dust getting in the works - do others use a CD player in the workshop, and what about dust?

regards

brian

I do Brian and I use my air line at very low pressure to clean it out.

Roy.

I have an mp3 player in the workshop which is kept in a stiff clear plastic bag to keep the dust off it. I dont like the radio much although there is one in there and it gets a go now and again but once the ads start repeating themselves or the DJ starts talking cr*p the mp3 player goes back on.
I listen to a very varied genre of music; thrash, rock, acid jazz, country, pop, progressive and more and a little bit of classical.
At the minute its Alison Krauss, Travelling Wilburys, Maximo Park, Groove Armada, Robin Mark. I couldnt tell you whats in the charts at the minute as I dont follow it.

Usually my mp3 player plugged into the stereo, with much loudness, lots of Nirvana, Stooges,Buzzcocks,Velvet Underground, Hendrix, Doors, Cult, Orb, Ozrichs Tentacles and lots of proper 1930's blues.

If not that then Radio 4 ,which can be very interesting ,until it gets a bit too 'upper middle class waffle, thinking they know best, well Daddy did get them into a good university...' i.e clueless drivel...... then its quickly back to the mp3 player before the chainsaw gets taken to the stereo

I used to have the wireless on for R2 but when I'm trying to concentrate on things in the 'shop the muzak won too many times resulting in errors that ought not to have been made. So now is nothing...silence, which is far more beneficial - Rob

Kiss FM on the radio for me. Dance, Hip Hop and R&B. Or Acid Jazz on the iPod.

complete silence in the shop.....well apart from the routers saws and planer.

Well, with that lot going you wouldn't be able to hear a radio anyway

Cheers

It's probably a good point when concentration is needed. But I don't like complete silence all the time.

Don't know how sad I am but I used to tape all of these shows from the mid 90's. It used to be Jimmy Saville and then Fluff Freeman, Dale is pretty good though. As a result I have 60 x C90,s full of oldies! :D . So I play these on the cassette when I'm in the workshop. It doesn't help that the CD is broke :( .

Phil

PS.I ABSOLUTELY HATE THE CONSTANT DRIVEL THAT THE SYCOPHANTIC MORONS WHO ACCOMPANY THE MAIN DJ'S COME OUT WITH. R2 USED TO BE GREAT BUT NOW YOU HAVE THE F***KING TRAFFIC ANNOUNCERS TOTALLY AGREEING WITH WHAT EVER S**T THE HOSTS COMES OUT WITH.

Sorry for the shouting and swearing, rant over.

I have a group of podcasts I download every week which I listen to on my ipod which keeps me entertained.

DAB radio with Planet Rock on or 5 Live if I'm listening to a bit of sport

Yup, me too generally. Unless it's one of those moments when silence in the shop is called for.

I thought I was the only weirdo who had heard of Ozric Tentacles! I'm going to have to dig Pungent Effulgent out now for a listen!
