OK here goes
First of all the Design is not mine but I have altered it to suit myself (See last set of photo's)
First of all the plans had to be scaled up to the size wanted and templates made so as to cut out the main pasts so in the first photo's. This is followed by gluing the main assembly. This is followed by routing and shaping by sanding

More shaping. Cut out motor design and carve out some of the detail

Using chisels I defined the joints between the tank and seat to the main body as I felt this gave a better appearance

On to the wheels these are constructed in three parts the center with the spokes and two outer which became the tyres. Did not like the first design so had a quick change. The lights where turned on the lathe and hand shaped to fit in their correct place

Axle, handle bars and footrest were also turned on the lathe from some pine I had laying around. Now the rocker parts were cut out and to make sure the rocker curve was smooth I used a router on a long bar. This worked a treat. Now things are starting to come together
Collages2.jpg

Top two photo's are of the unit glued together except for the wheels and rocker base this is so as to make it easier to paint. When it is all painted these parts are finally glued as now can be seen

These photo's show the plans and details of the website they came from. They are free to download. And of coarse it would not be complete without its rider

Hope you all enjoy this

wow! fantastic. I can see my 15 month old son on one of those. Only problem is that he would probably be 15 years old before I'd finished it!

Really nice work.

Haha, thats pretty cool! Lucky kid, all I had was a 3rd or 4th hand scabby horse!

Great set of pics and description too, well done!

Thanks guys

Something for those wanting to build this it took from the 17th Feb 2009(first piece cut) to the 11th March 2009 to complete including the painting. I am not at work so take that into account as I could work on it all day if I wanted

Thats fantastic! :D Looks like a great project to have done, I'm sure the young guy who's recieved it really likes you!
