I have had a go at a fountain pen set

I got a fountain pen and ball point, turned up some cherry for them

Gave them to the LOML as part of her valentines present, I did not think they had come out that well but Naomi is over the moon with them. :D I had to go out and buy some more cartridges for it as only one is supplied.

I have been asked for some more slim line pen and pencil sets, so here is a work in progress shot

Blanks all drilled and the first few with the tubes glued in, did some more tonight, but I have misplaced the trimmer, will need to send out a search party tomorrow night.

I made a handle for the small gouge I bought at Ally Pally bit of beech with a coat of oil as the finish.

I guess it's a case of "have lathes will spin" from now on, just need a Quill holder to go with the Penknife, Inkwell stand .......&..... :D

Classy looking set Dave.

Nice pens, well turned.
Could i ask what finish you used on them?
Good look with the search party, i lost my adaptor & thin nossel for the dust extractor & ended up tidying the whole workshop to find it . At least it prompted me to do a workshop tour while the place looked half decent.

Doug.

Very nice pens, Dave. The kits look nice too - where did you get them from?
When your search party has found your blank trimmer could they come and find my pin from my pin chuck?? :D :D

Pen set looks very nice :D
Hasn't taken you long to sliiiddeeeee down the slope  (with impressive results!)

Andrew

Looking good Dave.

Are you using those Bic pens to make wooden equivalents? If so how and where did you source the Bics?

Thanks chaps, glad you like them.
I used Osmo Hardwax oil as the finish, 4 or 5 coats, lost count.
The kits came form Ebay, from this seller Fun-e-turnz, Helen has several types of pen kits and pencils as well as other turning related stuff, I have just bought a new pair of 6" and 4" faceplates for £23 for the CCL :D from her.

I bought the BIC pens from Staples, having got them home I find the inserts don't pull out, will have to try a gentle trap with the persuading iron. I got the long drill from Reg Slack at Ally Pally to have a go at all wood pens.

The Slope TM does indeed seem quite steep.

So who has my barrel trimmers, they may of dropped though a rift in the space time continuum and ended up in someone else's shop. #-o
