Both of these are 'inspired' by classic pottery. Answers on a postcard.

6" tall 3" max dia: finished with sealer & wax.

4 1/2" tall, 3 1/2" max dia. Hollowed out to approx 6mm but thicker in widest point as my tools don't reach properly. Not finished as it is developing some cracks. I will possibly have a go at decorating to suit the character of the piece (hint there to origins) and can hopefully disgiuise the cracks if they don't get too big.

Both very nice. Top one is my favourite.

You're still using that flash aren't you ? ;)

Thanks, and yep, I am doing some of them outside in natural light but there isn't any at the moment.

Pete have you tried turning the flash off and just having the normal room lights illuminate the piece? Do you have some desk lamps?

Yes. Here's the result.

Steve: I am not sure. They are from a dead tree I had to cut down and I thought it was cheerry but a pro at the club says it is probably some fruit wood.

nice pieces Pete To me both look old style designs like you see in musems and places like that. pieces that were made for use if you know what I mean.Thats mt euro's worth I like them both.REgards Boysie.

Pete, I do like that 'matheus rose' flask (one has to be of a certain age  )

Although nice enough in their own right the top piece is a little 'rotm'

[rotm = run of the mill]

Mateus Rose? What's that? Probably before my time  The 'Run of the mill' is based on a Georgian design so I suppose it is a bit passe but what the heck. The other is based on a pueblo pottery design. Thinking about it a lot of George's creations are very much like the Amerindian pottery styles, don't know if it's deliberate or a case of great minds thinking alike. (Him & them, not me) If I can pluck up the courage I intend to have a go at decorating some in the style as well either carving or pyrography. If it happens I'll post them.

Graham ... I know what Mattheus Rose is !!
My old fella used to make lamps from the bottles !

Pete, they're fabulous again.. I'm another who would lean towards the first one, if I had to make a choice.

Both are very much 'in keeping' with your trademark rustic stuff, and look to be really well done, once again.

Great ! 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)

Pete,

I like them both but in my case I am more intrigued by the second, I like the way the bark adds to an otherwise fairly bland shape.

Regards,

Great work Pete

I like both and the inclusions add a good contrast of both colour and texture.

Well done

Mark

Thanks everyone. The pueblo pottery in particular (for me) has a simplicity that really appeals. I need to practice my hollowing though it isn't any where near George's level in skill or size but ait's good practice.
