I saw a program about ebay a year or more back. The presenter said that he thought he try and get "money for old rope" literally. So he found some old rope and put it up on ebay. It sold and the presenter went to vist the bloke who bought it. If I remember correctly the buyer was happy and had bought it because he lived miles from anywhere that sold rope.

Look at his other items :D

Look at his feedback - he mostly sell inkjet carts but he has sold mdf before and found a buyer at 99p +£10 for postage.

Just think of all the money you threw out last time you cleaned out the workshop. Hell the sawdust alone was probably worth a few beers

A few years ago we used to buy hardwoods off a local seller.
He used to sell mahogany off cuts which started at a £5 i won (sorry bought) a batch for £15(all it was worth) and lost another lot which went for£21.
A week later the £5 start lot went for £80  and continued for the next couple of weeks to fetch roughly £80 :?
A boot full of mahogany offcuts :(
I have sold and bought hundereds of pounds worth of gear off adtrader, advertised for free,no commision.Ebay is a p*** take.

Is this madness? I bet that's cheaper than you can get it in HobbyCraft. I was in there today and the range of bizarre pointless 'hobbies' is quit astonishing. If you need that stuff and you haven't got power tools (or you're a girl) then it's useful. From the sellers point of view he's earning easy money but not that easy. It still costs him time to knock it all down, pack it, ship it.

The person is seeing if they can sell worthless gear for good money
good luck to them :D
I once got stung on ebay and they said they did not like to get involved  they said the seller/buyer should sort it out!
Thats like buying a Sony tv off Currys, it becomes faulty and Currys saying its between you and Sony!

It's worth it to whoever buys it, surely? It's hobby fodder. Paint it and stick sparkly stuff to it and call it art.

eBay have been like that from the beginning, in fact originally they were worse.

I never cease to be amazed what will sell on ebay. I've got a whole heap of crap I need to flog/get rid of and am working up the willpower to put it all on

I use ebay a lot for small hard to find items but if I want to buy anything expensive on ebay I contact the seller to see if they also have a physical shop. Frequently they do and you can get the same deal from them in person over the counter.

Biggest purchase to date is a free standing bath that was several hundred £ cheaper on ebay than anywhere else I could find. Seller had several and was happy for me to go to his place with cash and collect it one. No need to involve ebay and no courier to damage it.

Well, the item appears to have ended now without a buyer. However, I think the sad thing is the number of hits that have been generated, presumably from people on this site! It'll only give him more hope... :D

eBay seems to have become more expensive recently, if you're looking to sell. Despite that, it's still a good place for picking up "factory reconditioned" DeWalt power tools on the cheap!
