Anyone watching the current series??
My missus loves it
I think it's absolute c**p
The same shops/people seem to buy the rubbish produced
Would love to get the presenters 'social media's contacts
I have a lot of rubbish i could sell as 'up-cycled

That program and contents does not display much in the way of skill but aimed at old ladies and afternoon TV entertainment in the whole. (Funny people around at the BBC, a lot of them wear funny coloured shirts and perhaps suffer from perhaps past use of illegal highs)

the most patronising part is when they say words like 'master craftsmen' and use it so casually, for something that really is at best mediocre quality, I struggle to watch it without getting worked up.

All of the above (hammer)

I've watched bits of it at times and it's cringeworthy

My car was in for service on Monday and when the girl came out with the paperwork when collecting the car that prog was on the TV. She must have seen me shaking my head but seeing what I was watching she said " I love that program, what great things they make, very clever".

Couldn't understand why I burst out laughing. ( That soon stopped when I had to pay the service bill though :( )

How about a suggestion put your stuff up on some social web and suggest they are better than anything the BBC program are conning there viewers with, but ask proper prices double what the BBC scammers are doing.

I know it's cynical but i get the impression sometimes that they have possible buyers lined up before they even start a process, maybe even some of the stuff going to the tip is arranged if you are inclined to be really suspicious  All they are interested in are viewing figures and making cheap programs that achieve that.

What's wrong with a gaudy painted bit of sh!te of a chair with 3 legs painted one colour and one different? Classy or wot :deer Then ask 5 times the price anyone with too much money would pay and then getting it.

BUT, you will have to get yourself a shiny brown leather pinny before you start or nobody will take you seriously, init :? :?

The one I did like was the Repair Shop, apart from shiny brown pinny poking his head in and doing sod all. There were some very clever people on that one.

Several threads about it here... none seem to say anything different and all generally concur that it's a load of **** being flogged for way too much money.

What a load of moaning minnies!!

If you don't like the fact that it shows that you don't need to just take everything to the skip (and I mean the general public, not all you clever dicks), then don't watch it; that will clearly lower your blood pressure!!

Yes, some of the items are overblown, but how many of us can upholster or carry out blacksmithing to anything like half the standard. And it has certainly given me a few ideas on re-purposing things that I may not have thought useful any more.

Phil - an occasional watcher and yes, I like the Repair Shop as well.

I find it quite the money involved quite mind boggling. My daughter quite likes it and I saw a bit where an old kiddie chair had some new wooden slats added and they sold it for £55! It went to some trendy shop and I dread to think what he sold it on for! What are people willing to pay for this stuff??

Nothing wrong with you liking and watching it Phil and clearly it must have an audience or the BEEB would soon drop it but I'd suggest that there are many sources of ideas and inspiration probably better for a woodworker.

I don't think anyone suggested on this thread " that you don't need to just take everything to the skip "

As I don't like it or watch it apart from very the odd occasion I haven't seen all the content however what I have seen is definitely IMO absolute rubbish and therefore as an individual as well as a licence payer I'm entitled to voice that opinion as much as you are.

No offence intended, we're all different. :)

I was off sick for a month recently and had nothing better to do than binge-watch Money for Nothing(MFN) and Find It, Fix It, Flog It (FFF).

I find MFN pretty annoying especially the leather-aproned tw@t who's only skill is the ability to paint one leg of a chair a different colour. There are some decent makers on there though, the chap who makes robots out of junk and the two young lads who do the woodwork. I also like Norman the old woodworker and his no-nonsense approach. The price they achieve, allegedly, for some of the items beggars belief.

FFF (on Channel 4, if you haven't heard of it) has a similar premise except it features two guys raiding hoarders collections around the UK for junk items and 'upcycling' them to make the most profit. One of them mostly does woodwork type projects, the other mostly old vehicles and other rusty stuff. There's a bit of banter between them which can be equally entertaining and annoying, but they do produce some nice items at the end, sometimes. They are then valued by an experienced auctioneer and the prices do seem to be more realistic than MFN.

I don't mind watching Money for nothing and occasionally they do something that I think looks quite nice.
But the thing that gets me is the silly prices they sell them for  ...

Yes, one item in every few thousand can be set aside, taken to a 'specialist' and done up for several hundred quid, then sold to some clueless artistic type, for a grand profit of.....£24.50.

What I don't like is that Artificiality TV is getting such a large following. I remember when peoples' lives were exciting enough, that they didn't need other someone else's fake TV drama to keep them occupied...

I'm pretty sure everyone on this entire forum can don a leather apron, paint a chair black, make one leg pink and then offer it for sale at a few hundred quid....... probably even me.

That's another of apron bloke's programmes... Same MO, but with a few more actually skilled craftspersons.

The one that made me laugh more than any other was the blokes that turned Christmas trees and still made a fortune I missed where they sold them as I would have contacted them and sold some proper turning

I keep getting told that I should watch Money For Nothing as I would find it interesting. Then I caught snatches of it whilst helping out a neighbour. From what I could see, it was all in focus, unlike The Repair Shop which seems to be more out of focus than in ... because it's supposed to be the artistic way to film it ... NOT.

Not seeing the whole programme it seemed that Money For Nothing didn't take into account the labour costs.
