Just finished making this mirror. Is made of oak and has been hand-carved. I'm told the glass is at least 30 yrs old and was orignally in a frame made by my wife's grandfather. The glass is 9mm thick and was (by the looks of it, hand silvered) and it weighs a fair bit.
I have gilded it using a fake gold called schlag. I used this because I wanted to try gilding and it's cheap compared to real gold.
