Made this mirror before Christmas, its a simple pine frame biscuited together and painted with a primer then a crown paint brown finish. I made the leaf stencil pattern by first drawing it on computer, printing it off then overlaying this onto some sticky sided clear A3 paper. Stuck it on then spray painted on the leaves. It went pretty well, a couple of the leaves I had to paint out as they didn't come out as well as I'd hoped.
Looking back on it, made a lot of errors, I should have made it out of MDF for a start. I should have made it the proper mirror way with the mirror been fitted last then a backer board put in, as it is I made it as you would a paneled door which made painting harder.
It as a pine mirror:
In the process of painting:
On the wall:
Heres a MDF bookcase. Had a lot of fun making this, first time making anything large in MDF for me. It was seriously messy, I will be using MR MDF next time I didn't really like using it. I rebated the shelves and I screwed them in. Once built it was my first time using HVLP and I made a lot of mess with to runny paint mixes and not having the surfaces smooth enough. Finally got it all sorted and painted with Dulux Eggshell with a MDF Primer Undercoater.
Heres one of the boards all marked up after using free Cutlist program which I really rate that you can download here.
Primer on:
Finished and awaiting collection:
Edit: I forgot to say, I had a lot of trouble with edge sealing on the MDF, didn't think about it till after the primer was on as I thought the primer would do a good job. It didn't but after enough coats of paint a passable finish was achieved.
Sorry no lovely hardwood projects with hand crafted dovetails I'll try better next time!
