minimax multi machine any views while I have chance to buy.

A friends having a clear out and offered first chance for a MiniMax muti-machine I think is a c20 !! - any body got views on these machines it looks complete with extras - includes bench saw, above below thicknesses 3 blades, side mounted drill and plate, router. One 240v motor with like a gear shift to move belt to pullies. My use would be hobby rather than trade. Any comments regards spares

New information: its a minimax C30 - any reports as to its performance - spares - is an oldish one but very heavy and solid.

I believe minimax is manufactured by SCM, who are one of the largest manufacturers of woodworking equipment and Italian. I think some of the axminster professional ranges at one time were minimax but with axminster branding.

SCM certainly have UK agents such as Scott and Sargent, so it is likely spare parts are available.

They are top notch. Very good engineering. Not sure about the C30 model itself (mines a LAB 300) but should be good.

Thanks for all and any more replies (particularly Jacob) - I can only go from what I have seen and been told, looks like its one not to be missed especially with the extras for the spindle moulder. Will keep you informed maybe post a photo If I get it.

If it's got the mortice attachment (your "side mounted drill and plate") this is a really useful bit of kit and will do everything which a Festool domino will do and more, except of course for being fixed - you bring the workpiece to the machine rather than the other way round - which is fine 99% of the time and especially handy with small bits and bobs. They tend to be under-rated and somewhat overlooked, mainly because a proper morticer does a proper mortice. But if Dominoes are your thing this is a good machine to have.

Decision made - the minimax C30 is not for me and will go on ebay soon. I've had a play with it and it is a really well built machine but I have most of what I need. Thanks for comments.

How much are you hoping to get?

Hi penny its not me but a neighbour he's hoping to put on ebay and get around £1000. What I can say its a lovely machine - the new C30 has individual motors and cost around £3500 this is not one of these, it looks more like the startrite k210 / 260. Look on goggle at the images and its like the first one mustard/yellow colour (minimax C30). it looks to have all the parts and extras. We have run the machine a few times and it sounds and works OK and 240volts, it did trip the electric but due to requiring 16amp line rather than a machine fault.

If I've gone against rules just delete this thread and sorry.
