Evening All,
Have cleaned an old military b/p hammer, wonder if anyone can recognise the makers mark, it’s been poorly stamped so not much to go on, but sure someone’s knowledge will have an idea.

Is there a mark beyond the broadarrow? I might be teaching you to suck eggs, but the broadarrow is a stamp still used to this day on MOD property to denote exactly that - that it belongs to the MOD!

Hi Joe, nope, just as shown and the other cheek is blank. There is ‘1’ on the underside, but so many makers numbered hammers before weight became popular I think.
I understand your point, maybe I should expect a knock on the door ;-)
I recall an old boy once telling me that if the broad arrow had another arrow stamped as a mirror image ( <- -> ), this was supposed to denote the item had been officially decommissioned. That being said, I’ve only ever seen such a mark once on a large wrench and I guess in reality it never really happened on small Items.
