I saw him several times on HIGNFY and MTW before the current media assault, and found him very entertaining. He did a good line in self-effacing humour which is now totally at odds with the way he's being presented in the press. I'm pretty sick of seeing him at the moment, but it's because he's been so over hyped, not because he's not any good.

I also like, for a variety of reasons, Andy Parsons, Stewart Francis, Frankie Boyle (if I need shocking), Greg Davies, Roger Monkhouse and Micky Flanagan - all recent successes via the Comedy Store, for which MM was the TV announcer when he worked for their company.

Stewart Francis - you don't expect anything more than a few predictable one-liners but, he always makes me laugh more than a lot of comedians! His delivery is excellent!

Couldn't stand that Stewart Lee guy when he was on BBC2 - most boring comedian on TV! He made Wossy's jokes seem almost funny, by comparison... :?

Since his emergence as the country's favourite family-friendly comic (although Harry Hill may have a bigger claim) there seems to be no stopping him.

I find him OK but cheesy and his current overexposure may well damage his long term appeal.

I'm totally with Brad there - I saw him on an episode of Mock the Week, and he just didn't seem like he could cope! He had one of two funny moments but otherwise just seemed to be struggling. I guess it's very hard to be spontaneously funny being new to that situation though, and the other guys were much more experienced in that show.

That said, I've seen his standup and some of it is very funny. I agree that he could easily be a 'one hit wonder' if they don't stop over-advertising, which would be a shame..
