That's it....I've thrown our telly out as I'm sick to the eye teeth of Michael flippin' McIntyre on DVD adverts, chat shows, his own bloody show and even impression shows (that is funny though! )
I find him the most sanctimonious, pompous, cheesy, unfunny, weasly little git to ever grace our screens! Believe me, I have tried to find any saving grace but have failed miserably.

I find a broad spectrum of comediens funny but how he made it as a stand up, in my view, beggars belief.

"Everyone Loves Michael McIntyre" ........NO, they effin well don't!!! :x

Rant over....everybody else's opinion please (not that I'll take a blind bit of notice, because I AM RIGHT   )

Thanks all

Mark

He's one of the most refreshing comedians for a long time. His observations on our own little foibles are sometimes nothing short of inspirational!

That's it again then Roger...I'll throw my new bloody laptop out too!

I enjoy his shows, and find him funny. My wife laughs until she cries when he is on. However, I don't think he is the best of the current crop of comedians, which surely is the largest and funniest bunch ever. We are in the midst of a comedy explosion. There are comedy clubs everywhere which are thriving, and programmes like Mock the Week, and yes, Michael McIntyre's Roadshow, have introduced us to some unbelievably funny talent.

I used to think that Billy Connolly was the funniest man on the planet.......and then I heard Frankie Boyle.

I will agree with you about one thing re McIntyre. His damn advertisement on Yahoo where he skips across the screen is right up there with "Thought for the Day" as the most annoying thing in my life.........

Hi,

I can't stand him, he has the sort of face you could never tire of hitting.

Franky Boyle is very funny.

I'm with you Woody, still with all this media exposure hopefully he will run out of material and we can move on to the next wannabe.

I like him. But I agree that he's yet another 'Comedian of the moment' and will probably run out of steam soon. They did it with Omid Djalili (sp?). He was funny for five minutes, then they put him in sketch shows, presenting slots and very quickly he shrivelled up and disappeared.

Mike.G, doesn't comedic highs go hand in hand with economic lows?

I think he is pretty good but, as always when something/someone becomes popular, the TV companys go right over the top and in the end you get very tired of it/them. MMs Comedy Roadshow has been repeated on BBC iPlayer almost every week. Do those that make the decisions not have the wit to show something else or, do they just go for the easiest option for them and to hell with the viewers?

No. Trust me, I know.

LOL - do you watch him so you can hate him? We have this button that's used for changing channels.

I thought that.

Or just 'tune out' if wifey is watching things. Tho I put my foot down with "I'm a moron get me a gun" That rubbish won't be seen on any of my TV's :D

SWMBO has always been very good with all the cr@p reality shows etc. She doesn't watch any of them, or any of the soaps. I was happy. Now I'm not. She's started watching 'I used to be a celebrity', since they put Silicone Barbie in there the other day. Now I have to find something else to do at 9pm every night. And I can't do any work on the wardrobe because "it'll be too noisy". And I can't do any work in the shed because there isn't one yet. And I can't play guitar because "that'll be too noisy too". And I can't read anything because ranting about how annoying and pointless that programme is is just too distracting.

I hate that programme. [/rant]

Actually I didn't have to complain too much about "I'm tosser get me into rehab", even she's fed up with that rubbish.

I tend to have my head phones on through the really bad programmes. Either watching woodworking stuff or listening to music.

Now that's an idea.... :D

I understand that you have a definite point of view, Mark, to which you're entitled. However, you're also outnumbered when it comes to public opinion.

MM has the largest-selling debut DVD ever, sold out the Apollo five nights on the trot, then did the same at the Wembley Arena six consecutive nights.

I like his observational comedy and story-telling style, which I've always preferred to a run of jokes. His confidence may come across as arrogance, but it's a front, in the same vein as Bob Monkhouse - whose career he will emulate, IMO. He's a change from those who need to shock to get a laugh, which is a relief nowadays.

I also like, for a variety of reasons, Andy Parsons, Stewart Francis, Frankie Boyle (if I need shocking), Greg Davies, Roger Monkhouse and Micky Flanagan - all recent successes via the Comedy Store, for which MM was the TV announcer when he worked for their company.

He'll go far, but probably not far enough away for Mark! :)

Hi, Argee

Don't confuse popular with good
