MFT3 replacement top?

Anyone bought or made a replacement top...there seems to be a few cnc specialists online offering these.
How accurate are they and is it worth buying the UJK kit from Axi to make my own?

I have an MFT top which comes with lovely Parf dogs from here:

Loads of threads on replacement MFT tops and the various jigs available. I researched them all, costed them all, visited CNC Design in Wrexham as I live reasonably close and came away with two Medite MDF tops ( one standard, one custom sized whilst I waited) and would never ever contemplate making my own.

Fully agree with Marineboy's comments. Absolute quality, total accuracy and half the price of the original even without the turned aluminium dogs which are supplied gratis.

It all boils down to wether you want to purchase, size and then bore your own top. But MDF, dogs and jigs (had a very close look the Parf jig in Axminster Tools.....superb engineering and design) are not cheap. Factor in your time, a workshop full of dust, replacement cutters and a set of dogs and it was a no-brainier for me.

I had this 1220 x 2440 MFT top made last year by a local guy who has a CNC.

It cost me £100 inc the sheet of 18mm MRMDF.
It is spot on accurate and the time it would have taken me to make myself versus the cost of getting him to make it for me was a no brainer.
I lent him a Parf Dog to measure and allow him to machine the holes nice & snug to match. They fit really snug, far tighter than they fit in my Festool MFT top.

I would consider getting the plywood version, I got the mdf version and although it's holding up fine, I wish I got the plywood version so that I don't have to worry so much about it getting bumped or wet.

Another vote for CNC Design, ordered mine from their eBay shop if I recall. Have used it in my outfeed/assembly table. The supplied dogs seeem very good too. - a lovely fit.

Plus one for CNC via ebay. Never had an original Festool to compare with but did have an attempt at making one. Gave up at the marking out stage. Cost of time wasted more than cost of buying one from CNC and the dogs are most useful

I bought a replacement top off eBay.
It was miles out of square and the seller was pretty Uninterested in doing anything about it.
I will try to find details of who I bought it off but my pc is dead at the moment!

Not wanting to hijack this post. If anyone is in Somerset area we have a 10x5 cnc so can make MFT tops on any size you require, mdf or birch ply. Plain or phenolic tops (best). Cheers

Not really a hijack on a thread nearly 4 years old, we could do with an introduction section on the forum so new members could more easily let everyone know about themselves & what they do.

Thanks just being polite. I'm in Yeovil Somerset and recently upgraded 10x5 cnc machine to faster 10x5 auto tool change cnc so now more efficient and quicker. We predominantly do camper conversions but also undertake contract cnc work. A new website will have our products listed but generally its bespoke work. So get on touch if you have any requirements.
