MFT router table

Hello everyone
I’ve recently found this forum I’ve never posted any of my projects before on any site so thought I would start with my most recent project for the work shop and for site work.
I used a Bosch GTA2500 mitre saw bench as the base for it so it’s easily transported. I made mft3 style hinge and router lift. The fence is able to be mounted underneath while folded and the router also but it gets removed for transport. Today started on making 2 way blast gate for it.
I’m planning on inverting a jigsaw and belt sander that would sit in the same recess as the router plate.

Nice work! I’d be interested to try an inverted jigsaw.

Where did you get the black extraction hose ends? I’ve got one but can’t remember where it came from, it’s useful and I wouldn’t mind having a few more.

It’s 40mm push fit waste pipe and a coupler cut in half. 38mm Charnwood hose fits over the pipe perfectly

It’s 4080 aluminium profile with 8mm slot you can slide rail clamps in the slot

I like that, particularly the cart that you used as the base.

I used to use it with a dewalt 12” mitre saw but was so heavy to lug up and down stairs and I wanted to make support wings for it but it wouldn’t work the base so went for different stand. It was going to put up on Gumtree but I had an idea and this was the result

What glue/adhesive did you use for polypropylene. I was gonna make it using 2 90 fitting and a tee it was too tall to fit behind the aluminium profile.

The blast gates have a 40mm tee with the flange cut off on one side and 40mm straight coupler cut in half (both push fit) - I glued them into a 48mm hole in the polyprop, obviously flush with the inner face, using UHU glue - I coated the hole, pushed the fittings in and turned them to spread the glue - when dry I put a bead - like a caulking - of 2 part epoxy (Poundland's finest) around the outside of each fitting as belt-and-braces fixing and in case there were any gaps that air could get through - all works fine. Where my T pieces fit to fixed 40mm pipe I've pushed them on and then put a small self-tapping screw to main the position (doesn't affect the flow)

I would try and have as few bends in the pipework as possible as it seems to reduce suction flow - my extraction is a straight run of pipe with 4 tee/blast-gate units and then one 90 degree bend connected to the flexible hose to the cyclone. The bend is just to the right of the blast gate in the pic

I just can’t get a glue to work for me so need to try that one.
My system is similar and works a treat haven’t really felt a drop in pressure makes clearing up a breeze

For the first attempt with glue I tried the epoxy but it wasn't too successful, the UHU (smells like aeroplane glue from days of yore) seems to form a weld with the plastics - I did expirement with solvent weld but that didn't seem to work either.

I've just made another gate for the system - easy to slip into the pipe run - it's to keep a length of the hose with the Henry's narrow crevice furniture tool connected all the time - just for bench and machine cleaning. I also have a Record air cleaner fitted to the ceiling.

Looks great. Did you buy the aluminium with brackets to make the frame? Wheres the fence/track from?

Thanks I got the aluminium extrusion for the upper frame and the pivot for the hinge from KJN Aluminium.
I had the plates cut to my own specs on a waterjet if we’re to do it again definitely have it cnc machined as water jet not as accurate as I had thought
I cut and drilled the the other parts for the hinge.
I used Benchdogs for the mft fence and Metabo guide rail but will be changing for festool type rail soon. The router fence is a trend one

Totally agree here, the portable saw cart as a base is a brilliant idea. I'm so stealing that in the future.

I'm another fan of KJN, their customer service is spot on. The delivery costs are sometimes eye watering but then they are moving large, heavy and often very long items.

Very nice. I have thos trolley for the bosch table saw. Which router lift did you use? I need to get one for my dewalt 625e but they all seem extremely expensive.
