Calculate the cubic meters required to produce 500 pieces of hardwood 1500mm x 150mm x 25mm thick

That will be;

cubic metre per sample = 1.5 x 0.15 x 0.025 = 0.005625 cu m.

so for 500 ---- 0.005625 x 500 = 2.8125 cu m.

All you have to do is decide how much you want to allow for wastage?

As it's hardwood, which is generally sold in cu ft that works out at;

~60 x 6 x 1 = 360cu in

x 500 = 180000 cu in

180000/1728 = 104 cu ft

2.8125cu m No wastage allowed.

Edit- i'm too slow!

Hi Hawkeye,

1500 x 150 x 25 or 1.5 x .15 x .025 = 0.0056 cubic metres

500 x 0.0056 = 2.81 cubic metres

+ x% wastage allowance (anything upto 50%!! :shock: )

...and you're about there

There is a great converter site that I use to convert English to Metric or back at: http://mg-jewelry.com/mmtoinches.html

Hope this helps (and is right!!! :wink: )

Cheers,

Richard
